How it works

A clear process.
No surprises.

From the first conversation to your child's first term, here is exactly what working with Meridian looks like at every stage.

01
Free

The discovery call.
30 minutes, no commitment.

The first conversation costs nothing and commits to nothing. It is thirty minutes for us to understand your child, your family's priorities, and where you are in the process. We do not pitch on this call. We listen.

By the end we will tell you honestly whether we think we can help, what a realistic outcome looks like for your child specifically, and what the process would involve. If Meridian is not the right fit we will tell you that too. Families consistently say this call alone gave them more clarity than months of research on their own.

What to have ready

About your child

  • Current age and school year
  • Academic strengths and interests
  • Any entrance exam results
  • How they feel about the idea

About your goals

  • Target entry year
  • Country preferences if any
  • Budget range, broadly
  • Any schools already considered
02
1 to 2 weeks

The school longlist.
Curated, not copied.

Within one to two weeks of the discovery call we present a curated longlist of six to eight schools. Every school on the list is there for a reason tied to what you shared about your child, not because it appeared in a ranking or because it is the most famous name.

For each school we explain why it made the list, what the admissions process involves, an honest assessment of your child's realistic chances, and what the international student experience actually looks like at that institution. This is where firsthand knowledge of these schools matters most. We attended them. We know what the brochure does not say.

Families are encouraged to ask hard questions at this stage. The longlist is the beginning of a conversation, not a final recommendation.

03
3 to 6 months

The application phase.
Managed end to end.

Once you confirm a shortlist of four to six schools the application process begins in full. We manage all deadlines and coordinate directly with admissions offices. You will always know exactly where each application stands.

We guide your child through entrance exam preparation, personal statements, and interview coaching. We advise on reference letters and work with your child's current school to ensure supporting materials are strong. For families applying from Asia, the Middle East, or Africa we provide specific guidance on presenting an international application compellingly to admissions teams who may be less familiar with your home country's school system.

04
Offer season

Offer and decision.
No pressure, clear eyes.

When offers arrive we sit with you and evaluate them properly. Not just the school name, but what the offer actually means for your child. Financial aid packages, entry conditions, scholarship terms, boarding house placement, and what questions to ask before accepting.

If you receive multiple offers we help you compare them honestly, weighing what matters for your specific child rather than what looks best on paper. If an application is unsuccessful we advise on next steps, whether that is a waitlist strategy, a gap year approach, or redirecting to other strong options on the list.

No family should feel rushed into a decision that shapes the next several years of their child's life. We make sure you are not.

05
Ongoing

First term and beyond.
The part most miss.

Placement is not the end of Meridian's involvement. Before your child departs we provide a full pre-departure briefing covering what to expect culturally, socially, and academically in those first weeks. The things nobody thinks to mention until a child is already struggling.

We assist with guardian arrangements for families whose children are under 16 in the UK, a requirement many families do not discover until the last moment. We remain available to both parents and students through the first term, because the adjustment period is real and having someone who has lived it makes a difference.

For families who want to look further ahead, university pathway planning is available as a separate conversation once your child is settled and thriving.
